Privacy policy

Factables is a times-tables app made by one person, Aleksei Potashev, in Madrid. It does not collect information about you.

In short. There are no accounts with me, no analytics, no adverts and no tracking, and the app does not talk to any server of mine — I do not run one. Your progress stays on your devices and, if you use iCloud, in your own iCloud account, where I cannot see it. Scores and matches go to Apple’s Game Center only if you choose to use it.

Who is responsible

Aleksei Potashev, an independent developer based in Madrid, Spain. For anything about this policy, write to alexei.potashev@gmail.com.

What the app keeps, and where

On your device

The profiles you create — a name, a colour and, if you pick one, an emoji — and for each profile: the facts it has found, how each equation has gone (how often it was answered, how quickly, and whether it was right first time), the history of finished rounds, and best scores. Settings such as sound, appearance, chosen tables and difficulty stay on the device too.

In your iCloud, if iCloud is on

To keep an iPhone and an iPad in step, the app stores the same progress — profiles, found facts, statistics and round history — in the private database of your own iCloud account, using Apple’s CloudKit. It belongs to your Apple Account: I have no access to it and cannot read, change or recover it. Apple’s privacy policy applies. Settings are not synced; each device keeps its own.

Game Center, only if you use it

Game Center is Apple’s optional gaming service. Factables works fully without it.

Game Center is run by Apple under its own terms. Adults can limit multiplayer games and other Game Center features with Screen Time.

Battles on two screens

In a battle between two devices in the same room, the devices talk to each other directly over the local network, never over the internet. The device that opens a room shows it to others nearby as an emoji or initial and a four-digit code — not a name. The profile’s name, colour and emoji go only to the device that joins, for that battle. iOS asks before the app first uses the local network, and the permission can be changed at any time in Settings.

Links to sources

Each fact can show where it comes from. Tapping a source opens that page in Safari; the app sends nothing to the website. The website’s own privacy policy applies to the visit.

What the app does not do

Crash reports

If you have allowed it on your device (Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements → Share With App Developers), Apple may pass me anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. They do not identify you, and you can switch this off at any time.

Children

Factables can be used by children. Because the app collects no personal information, a child can use it without giving any to me. Whether a child uses iCloud and Game Center is up to the adults who manage the device, and both can be managed with Screen Time.

Deleting your data

Data stays where it is until you delete it. As I hold nothing about you, there is nothing for me to export or erase on request — but if anything is unclear, write to me and I will help.

Your rights

Under the GDPR and the UK GDPR you can ask to see, correct or delete personal data held about you. I do not hold any from this app. The data in iCloud and Game Center is under your control through your Apple Account and is handled by Apple under its privacy policy.

Changes to this policy

If a future version handles information differently, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the date at the top will change.
