Factables

Times-tables practice where a right answer can unlock a true story about its number — the 7 continents, the 12 people who walked on the Moon, the 64 squares of a chessboard.

Questions

How do I keep progress the same on my iPhone and iPad?

Use the same Apple Account, with iCloud turned on, on both. Progress syncs by itself, usually within a minute of opening the app. Sound, tables and difficulty are set separately on each device.

A new device shows an empty “Player 1”.

That is a placeholder, so nobody has to wait to start. Give iCloud a moment: once your profiles arrive, the empty one disappears by itself — as long as nobody has played on it yet. If someone has, delete it on the profiles screen.

Two screens cannot find each other.

Both devices need to be on the same Wi-Fi network and to allow local network access: Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network → Factables. One player taps Start a room; the other taps Join a room and picks the room with the code shown on the first screen.

How do matches by turns work?

They use Game Center, so sign in first in Settings → Game Center. You can invite a Game Center friend, or tap Find an opponent — that works best when both of you tap it at about the same time. If Screen Time limits multiplayer games, matches are switched off; an adult can change that in Settings → Screen Time → Content & Privacy Restrictions → Game Center.

What do Easy, Medium and Hard mean?

Where do the facts come from?

Every fact was checked against a published source — a museum, a space agency, a sports body, a dictionary. Open a number in My Numbers to see the source under each fact you have found, and tap it to read the page. A few facts are proved with arithmetic instead. If you spot a mistake, please tell me.

How do I delete a profile, or everything?

Tap the player’s name at the top of the home screen, then the bin next to the profile. To remove everything, see Deleting your data.
